Sixth Grade Technology Students
For this project you will learn how to use a 3D Modeling program called Sketchup. You will use this Turn-in Document to paste screenshots of your finished tasks.
Go to sketchup.com
Click on “Try Sketchup” in the lower left corner to create your free account.
In the drop down menu, select “primary & secondary”
Yes, we are enrolled in Google’s G Suite for Education, select YES
Next drop down box select Student
and click the blue box “Sketchup for Schools”
Click Sign in with Google
Choose your @student.pps.net account
This part may sound scary, but let’s just go ahead and trust those nice Sketchup people and click the blue Allow button.
And now you have your very own free sketchup online account. Remember the password.

Start by Taking the Tour
Click through the prompts to complete the tour.
TAKE A SCREENSHOT of the final page of the tour, and then paste it into the Turn-in Document
Open the Turn-in Document while logged into your google drive, then select MAKE A COPY from the FILE menu.
Fill out the Turn-in Document and upload to Canvas when it is complete.
When you feel ready to start, move ahead to the four tutorials below:

Feel free to change the siding material, the colors, add more windows or doors, change the lawn, the fence, the sidewalk, etc.
Also add to your file:
Trees and landscaping.
A driveway
A swingset or other playground equipment
Anything else you want! Use your imagination and have fun with it.
SAVE this file to your online Sketchup folder.
Take screenshots of the four files you created and share them with Mr. Gilley.
FINAL TASK - Design and build a tree-fort.
Grading criteria:
Tree fort is in a tree at least 20 feet above the ground (yes that means you have to draw the tree.
Tree fort has three rooms in it. LEAVE THE ROOF OFF so we can see the floor plan.
Tree fort has four or more windows.
Tree fort has your name on the door, or on the front wall somewhere.
Tree fort is made mostly of wood.
